This article provides a historical and analytical examination of the life and socio-political activity of Inomjon Xidiraliyev, one of the prominent state and public figures who played an important role in the political life of Turkestan and Uzbekistan during the 1920s. The study interprets Xidiraliyev’s biography not merely as an individual life story, but as a significant historical phenomenon reflecting the complex transformation from the colonial order to the Soviet system of centralized governance. Particular attention is given to his social background, education in Russian-native schools, early administrative experience, and gradual emergence as a nationally conscious political figure. The article analyzes his activities in responsible positions within Soviet institutions, including his service as People’s Commissar for Land Affairs and Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Turkestan ASSR. It emphasizes Xidiraliyev’s efforts to defend local interests, promote the involvement of indigenous people in state administration, and support the use of local languages in official governance. The study also examines his position on the land and water reform, highlighting his criticism of coercive methods and his concern for the social realities of the rural population. The political accusations connected with the so-called “Group of Eighteen” are discussed as an early manifestation of pressure against the Uzbek national political elite. In addition, the article considers Xidiraliyev’s diplomatic activity, tragic death in Moscow in 1928, and the later restoration of his historical memory. Overall, the article presents Inomjon Xidiraliyev as a complex political figure whose fate embodied the contradictions, hopes, and tragedies of the national leadership in early Soviet Uzbekistan.Downloads
